The International referees camp CAN DO BASKETBALL, created by Allan Richardson back in 1993, is continuing at full strength in Samokov, Bulgaria. The camp is being held during the national championships of Juniors U16 and Girls U16 and in the next two days the semifinals and the finals are to be played. For 5th straight year Bulgaria is the place of the camp and from the local side has been prepared a great organization which allows referees and instructors to be 100% focused on doing their job and what they came for.   Of course the referees job is not only to officiate the games. The instructors are all the time educating them and are analyzing their performance. From the morning they start watching situations from the games played on the previous day with explanations about how the matches have to be officiated and what kind of the decisions have to be made. After that theire is also a practical and theorical education which is held in the small gym in "Arena Samokov". Generally the work during the camp goes on all the time in three gyms and continues from the morning to the evening with the end of the last game. Mr. Valentin Lazarov is also a part of the education process as he is the one explaining the rules to the referees.   Everyday 48 referees officiated the games - three in the first and three in the second half. Until now the officiating as at good level and there are no complains. Of course the directors of the camp will put the best performing referees so far to be the ones that will officiated the semifinals and the finals in the next two days.   There is also special device that is used for the referees but we are about to explain for it soon.
