Djordjije Pavicevic, head coach of Mornar: The players have to give their maximum and try to win

KK Mornar is hosting KB Peja in a last group C match of the Second Stage. The game has no importance for the home team as they are already out but the visitors need to win in order to finish 1st and qualify directly for the semifinal. Here is what the head coach of Mornar - Djordjije Pavicevic had to say before the game:
"Despite the fact that this match has no importance for the standings, the players have to give their maximum to try and take the win. We are little bit dissappointed on the way we lost some games. It is because of our play but also due to some referees mistakes that decided the games against Kumanovo in Bar and against Peja in Kosovo. If we had won those games, as it should′ve been, the one against Peja now would′ve had a different meaning. However there is some bitterness in the players and in us coaches because the Second Stage for us didn′t finish as we all expected. The teams that advance have good rosters but don′t have the same conditions that we have in Bar and this is a reflection of the conditions and the level of play we showed in the Balkan League which showed us where we have to work and it′s something we expected. Unfortunately the game against Peja has no importance for us so it′s obvious they′ll play with more fire, more will to win but surely I′ll try to motivate my players to play this game in a sports and fair way. And if this will be good enough to win, which I think will be, we are going to try and get the victory.

For sure the injuries reflected on our performance. At the start of the year we had two friendly tournament where Perovic, Mikovic and Damjanovic got injured and because of that the roster wasn′t at good level. Also if we had more luck for some of the games at the end which we lost, the things could′ve been different.

I′m happy that Mornar returned to EUROHOLD Balkan League. We knew at the start that for some game it wouldn′t allow us to be at the top but you know that happens in sports. We also asked ourselves if it′s harmful to play or is it good for us. Balkan League as a very well organised competition and I can say that we might play as well next season if everything is in place and some corrections are made. I′m giving you an example - I wasn′t in Kumanovo because I was sick as during practice in the gym it was minus 2 and during the game it wasn′t more than 5 degrees. And when you come to Bar you come to play at 22-23 degrees. This the Balkan League has to try and fix so the teams have the same conditions and this to leads to sports entertainment.

I think that most probably we are going to play in EUROHOLD Balkan League in the next season as well. Of course we have to check the roster first and to see what players we are going to have, but I hope we are going to play once again.

We are already qualified for the Superleague in Montenegro and we are going to try and perform well there. We finished the Cup a few days ago where we lost the semifinal as we came back only in Thursday and the players were a bit tired and had some pain. I hope the next year it won′t happen the same. In the Superleague our goal is to reach the semifinal and hopefully the final as well against Buducnost."
