Karpos Sokoli to debut in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League
17-08-2016 | 11:57

One of the best teams in Macedonia in recent years - Karpos Sokoli 2000 will be the new member of the SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League family. The team has confirmed its participation in the competition for the upcoming season and will play in it for first time in its history. The team from Skopje will play its home games in the biggest arena in Macedonia "SC Boris Trajkovski". The Macedonians will be the second newcomer this season as KB Trepca will make its debut.

Karpos Sokoli is a team that was founded back in 1993 but only in recent years has found more success. Last season was without doubt the best one for them as Sokoli reached the final of Macedonian Cup where they lost to MZT Skopje. Then the team finished second in the Regular season of the league but lost in the Semifinals.

Head coach of Karpos Sokoli is the Serbian Sinisa Matic while Borce Daskalovski will be his assistant. The team from Skopje has already signed Dragan Zekovic and Dragan Labovic and has kept Dusan Knezevic, Igor Penov and Darko Sokolov from last season. Without question the ambitious management of the club will build a competitive roster which will try to do well in its debut in BIBL.

The Balkan League management is happy to welcome Karpos Sokoli to the competition and is hoping that this collaboration will provide positive results for both sides. Next week the management of the league will travel to Macedonia where they will have a meeting with the president of the federation Petar Naumoski and Secretary General Monika Gavriloska and a  confirmation by the governing body for Karpos Sokoli′s participation in BIBL is expected soon.
