High scoring Beroe crushed Sutjeska

BC Beroe started the Second Stage in SIGAL UNIQA Balkan League in a great way. The Stara Zagora team hosted KK Sutjeska and took a convincing 104-76 win. It puts the team at 3-0 record and in a very good position in the group while Sutjeska will now be at 1-2. In the next round Beroe will visit Feni Industries while the Niksic squad will host Kozuv.

The hosts started a bit better but then Beroe came alive. The hosts took the lead although they didn′t hold on to it and after ten minutes the score was tied. Sutjeska scored first in the second period but then led by Zhelev Beroe made a 12-0 run to go up by 10. The visitors cut the deficit to 6 but a 9-1 finish of the first half gave the home side a 14-point advantage.

Sutjeska opened the third quarter well and soon got back in the game. The visitors closed the difference to 5 points but Beroe answered almost every basket and led by 9 after 30 minutes. Everything in this game was decided in the first five minutes of the last period when the home side made 18-0 run to secure the big win.

The hosts had 71% shooting for 2 points hitting 25 out of 35 attempts which proved to be too much for the visitors.

Shane Gibson was the top scorer for the winners with 21 points. Tihomir Zhelev did well by scoring 20 while Omari Gudul had double-double with 14 and 11 rebounds.

Djoko Salic finished with 16 points for the visiting team as Marko Perovic added 13.
