Domestic leagues: Beroe′s run finished in a thriller, Academic winning easy

BC Beroe′s run of 9 straight wins in Bulgarian league came to an end. It happned in a thrilling and dramatic was as The Greens lost 110-111 to Yambol at home.

The visitors led by 10 points at the break but before the final quarter the difference was just 2. The hosts managed to take a 10-point edge early in it but Yambol didn′t stop fighting. In the final three minutes they made a 10-0 run to go up by 5 and although Beroe cut the deficit to just 1, there was no time for more.

Trenton Coggins had 27 points for the hosts as Nikolay Stoyanov finished with 19.

Academic Bultex 99 had a better weekend as the team defeated Spartak Pleven 79-68 at home. The Plovdiv team had a great start and led from the first minutes. The team managed to build a quick double-digit advantage and was controlling the game from that moment until the end.

Vasil Bachev had 19 points for the win as Daishon Knight added 18.

Beroe is currently second in the standings with 11 wins and 3 defeats while Academic comes in fifth place with 7-7 record.
