BC Rilski Sportist, the runner-up in the 2011 EUROHOLD Balkan League announced the team′s first new signings for the upcoming 2011/2012 season. The club signed two well-known names with BIBL experience - Asen Velikov from BC Levski and Branko Mirkovic from BC Igokea Aleksandrovac.
Asen Velikov spent the last fours seasons with Levski Sofia, as he played in the Balkan League in three of those years. Back in 2010 he became champion of the BIBL. Last season he averaged 7.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 18.7 minutes per game, playing in 9 games, but starting in only one. In his career so far he has appeared in 33 BIBL games, including 10 starts.
Branko Mirkovic is coming back to Samokov, after he spent the 2008/2009 season with the team, and he won the Balkan League back then. Last season he played in BC Igokea Aleksandrovac, as the club finished second in Bosnia. In his championship season with Rilski Sportist, Mirkovic appeared in 12 games, posting 13.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
Rilski needed some depth on the PG position after the departure of Dimitar Karadjovski, and taking in mind the fact that Aleksandar Gruev still hasn′t signed a new contract.News
