BC Galil Gilboa remained unbeaten in Group A of the 2011/2012 EUROHOLD Balkan League after an important win away from home against BC Timisoara. The vice-champion of Israel went home with a 76:83 win, which is their fourth straight in the competition so far.
 
Bogdan Popescu opened up the score tonight in Sala Constantin Jude in Timisoara, making the first basket of the night - 2:0. Popescu added another 2 points to his stats for 4:2, but Gilboa quickly tied the game at 4:4, and afterwards at 6:6. The visitors got their first lead of the game after a basket by Christopher Thomas for 9:10 with 5.30 left in the first. Timisoara responded with an 8:2 run which would put them ahead by 6 points - 18:12, 2.56 before the end of the first period. Gilboa also had a response for that - scoring 10 points against just 2 for Timisoara until the end of the period, and leading 20:22 after 10 minutes.
 
The home team got off to a strong start in the second period, scoring 13 points against just 5 for Galil Gilboa, which gave them a 33:27 lead, before Ido Kozikaro tied the score at 33:33 with 3.55 left to play in the first half. Gilboa got the lead back and didn′t let go until the end of the first half, as after 20 minutes of play they were ahead by 2 points - 42:44.
 
Zlatko Jovanovic scored for Timisoara, as this basket tied the score at 46:46 with more than 8 minutes to go in the third period. Again it was Jovanovic who made another basket, giving his team a 50:48 lead with 7 minutes remaining. Joseph Jones tied the game at 52:52, and Galil Gilboa made a run of 17:6, which gave them an 11-point lead after the third period - 58:69.
 
Andrei Dragos scored a three-pointer, finishing a seven to nothing Timisoara run early in the fourth quarter, which decreased the deficit to just four points - 65:69. Joseph Jones and Romeo Travis gave Gilboa some breathing space, extending the team′s lead to 8 points - 67:75 with around 3 minutes left to play. Bogdan Popescu made it 70:75, but Joseph Jones quickly responded with another basket for 70:77. Timisoara weren′t able to fight their way back into the game and the final score was settled at 76:83.
 
Ido Kozikaro led Galil Gilboa in scoring, notching in 17 points in just 18 minutes off the bench, shooting 7/7 for 2 points, as he also added 6 rebounds to his statline. Romeo Travis and Joseph Jones scored 12 points each, as Travis had an all-around performance with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots. Chaisson Allen added 11 points and 5 assists, while Christopher Thomas had 10 points, 5 steals and 4 assists.
 
Ivan Siriscevic scored 24 points and added 6 rebounds in 31 minutes of playing time off the bench for BC Timisoara. Dominique Archie had a solid performance, finishing with a double-double - 16 points and 11 rebounds, along with 4 steals and 1 blocked shot. Bogdan Popescu added 14 points, while Zlatko Jovanovic had 10.
 
BC Galil Gilboa are first in Group A of the 2011/2012 EUROHOLD Balkan League with 4 wins from 4 games. BC Timisoara are fourth with only 1 win and 4 losses.
 
In their next game Galil Gilboa are playing KK Torus - SC Boris Trajkovski on the 14th of December, while BC Timisoara are visiting KK Mornar Bar in Montenegro on the 6th of December.
