KK Mornar finished the year with a home win against Timisoara

KK Mornar Bar enjoyed a win in their last game in the EUROHOLD Balkan League for 2011. At home in Topolica the Montenegrin team defeated BC Timisoara 79:77 in a really interesting and close game.
 
BC Timisoara was the more active team in the opening minutes of tonight′s game, as they scored the first basket of the night. The Romanian side led 2:4 with around 8 minutes to go, before Mornar finally got their first lead of the game - 9:6 with 6.43 remaining. Filip Barovic extended it to 11:6, before Timisoara scored five unanswered points and tied the game at 11:11. Mornar scored 8 points against just 3 for the guest team in the next three minutes and had a 19:13 lead with 2.58 to go. Nikola Ivanovic made it 27:17, giving his team a double-digit lead for the first time with 1.02 to go. The score after 10 minutes was 28:19.
 
The home side kept their lead in the opening minutes of the second period, extending it to double digits - 34:24 with 6.58 to go before halftime. Zlatko Jovanovic made a 2-point shot for 34:26, as that was the start of an 11:0 run by Timisoara, who led the game 34:35 with less than four minutes to go. Mornar scored just four points until the end of the period against 7 for Timisoara, who led 38:42 halfway through the game after a strong second quarter (10:23).
 
Dominique Archie made a dunk, increasing his team′s lead to 38:44 just 20 seconds into the second half, but Mornar quickly scored six unanswered points, and the score was once again tied - 44:44. In the following moments the score was tied three more times, before 5 straight points by Nenad Markovic gave Timisoara a 53:58 lead with 3.02 to go in the third. After 30 minutes of basketball in Topolica in Bar the score was tied at 61:61.
 
Mirza Sarajlija scored the first four points in the fourth quarter, giving Mornar a 65:61 lead with 8.12 to go. Timisoara responded with an 7-0 run, which gave them back the leading position - 65:68 with 5.47 remaining. Mirza Sarajlija scored a three, equalizing the game at 68:68, and scoring all of his team′s points so far in the quarter. Bogdan Popescu made it 68:70, but Sarajlija scored another three for 71:70, as this was his 12th point in the quarter. Timisoara led 71:74 after baskets by Jovanovic and Archie, but Akeem Scott and Filip Barovic scored and it was tied at 74:74 with 2 minutes to go. Popescu made a free-throw for 74:75, but Lazar Radosavljevic responded with a three - 77:75 with 1.15 to go. Once again Popescu stepped up and tied the game at 77:77, before Radoje Vujosevic gave Mornar a vital 79:77 lead with 15 seconds left in the game. In the following offense Vujosevic blocked Zlatko Jovanovic′s shot and Mornar grabbed the win.
 
Akeem Scott led KK Mornar in the win with 19 points and 4 assists. Ivan Jelenic added 15 points and 5 boards, while Mirza Sarajlija had 13 points, as he scored all of them in the fourth period. Nikola Ivanovic finished with 10 points, and big man Radoje Vujosevic had 5, including the game winning basket and a blocked shot in the last seconds.
 
Bogdan Popescu and Dominique Archie had 14 points each for Timisoara, as Popescu grabbed 5 rebounds, while Archie had 7. Nikola Jovanovic performed good in his debut in the BIBL - 13 points and 5 rebounds. Nenad Markovic added 11 points, while Zlatko Jovanovic was one assist away of a double-double - 10 points and 9 assists.
 
This was KK Mornar′s third win of the season, as they moved up to the second spot in Group A with a balance of 3-2. Timisoara suffered their fourth loss in five games, as currently the team is fourth with a balance of 1-4.
 
Mornar′s next game is scheduled for the 17th of January 2012, when they will host KK Torus - SC Boris Trajkovski in Bar. Timisoara on the other side will play away from home - against OKK Beograd on the same date.
