Georgi Glushkov: It′s good to have new teams every year

Georgi Glushkov, the president of the Bulgarian Basketball Federation talked to our website about the performance of Bulgarian clubs in the EUROHOLD Balkan League, about the debut season with Israeli teams playing in the League and also about the upcoming European championship for U20 men in Sofia this summer. Here is what the former Phoenix Suns player had to say.
 
"I think that Bulgaria has already established itself as a power in the EUROHOLD Balkan League, that is pretty clear."
 
"It′s good that every year there is a new tease for the teams, in the last years there were quite a few teams playing, all of them with the style of the Balkans, so the Israeli teams definitely contributed for the change in the style of the game in the competition. I think that both Israeli teams are really strong and it was good for all the teams that faced them to play against such clubs."
 
"I think that we can get a promotion to Division A in the U20 men European championship in Sofia in the summer. We have good chances, despite that we don′t have a superb gard or a 215-cm tall center for example. If we qualify for Division A I will insist that we will host the championship next year."
 
"The participation in this European championship will be good for the players born in 1992 and 1993, as they will be able to compare themselves to the other players, and see what they can achieve as professionals. It′s important to see if we will have players to fill in for Filip Videnov, Kaloyan Ivanov and Deyan Ivanov in the senior national team."
