Konstantin Papazov, head coach of BC Levski: Battles like that are won with character and confidence and without fear

BC Levski lost for the second year in a row the final in EUROHOLD Balkan League and here is what the head coach Konstantin Papazov said after the title game:

"We didn′t have enough character and confidence. These are battles that can be won with confidence and no fear. There are people that are afraid to take responsibility and even to make a mistake. I told them before the game that the many finals that we lost should have helped grow up from mental point of view. At the end we′ll suffer again because some of the players, besides Marinovic and Protic, have no character to take responsibility in the decisive moments.

It′s not possible that our two centers, except Pantic, not to have a basket. Everybody must help a little bit. What will change if somebody else make mistake. I think that when a person is losing has to grow up but it doesn′t seem like that. Galil played a little bit more agressive under the basket, it was hard for Pantic to receive the ball and the outside players had to help. With this low scoring we allowed them very easy to score at the start of the last quarter. This is unacceptable for a team that reached this far.

We can′t change anything and I think the pain is less than the the one from last year. Such battles are won with character. In 21st century one thing is certain - the physic is dominant over the brain. We tried to be smart and compensate our bad physical qualities."
