The champion of Kosovo joins EUROHOLD Balkan League

The champion of Kosovo - BC Peja is the 9th team to join the EUROHOLD Balkan League for season 2013/2014.
The team put official request to enter the competiton after their compatriots from Sigal Prishtina were officially accepted last month. After proving to the league that they will have a good and stable budget, with respective sports facility and good organization, the Sports Director Mr. Shay Shtriks together with Mr. Assen Christov - the Executive Director of the tournament, took the decision to give the right to BC Peja to be a part of competition with the same conditions and BC Sigal Prishtina.
BC Peja is a club that was founded in year 1993. They are five time champions of Kosovo with the last one being in the last season after beating Sigal Prishtina. The team has also won twice the Cup of Kosovo - 1997 and 2011 and are beaten finalist four times in the championship and three in the Cup.
Head coach of the team is Daniel Lutz who last season won the Croatian title with Cibona Zagreb. So far the team has added the strong local players Mirza Ahmetbasic and Ersad Ljuca, Drilon Hajrizi and Endrid Hysenagolli. Also, as a foreigner, Croatian Vedran Morovic joined the club.
On Saturday, August 17th, there will be a meeting with the president of BC Peja and representatives of the club where all other details will be discussed. Afterwards the Competition manager - Mr. Kamen Toshev, will pay a visit to the city of Peja in order to check and confirm that the hotel and the sports facility are arranged in the right way.
The structure for season 2013-2014 is staying as according to the regulations - either 10 or 12 teams divided in 2 groups. Until the end of August or, the latest, beginning of September it will be 100 % known and announced which format will be chosen. It depends on the fact that  EUROHOLD Balkan League is still checking requests from clubs from other countries. However, before being sure that their financial and  organizational situation is stable enough to compete in international competition, a decision will not be taken.
