Team on focus: BC Balkan
09-10-2013 | 17:15
BC Balkan is coming back to EUROHOLD Balkan League with ambition to perform much better in its second season in the competition. The first one was back in 2010/2011 when the team from Botevgrad finished with 1-7 record and was last in its group. Now after a two year absence the roster of Balkan is completely different and will be aiming to do better.
Aleksandar Todorov is the head coach of Balkan and he certainly has some history in the competition. He was the first winner of EUROHOLD Balkan League when his team in 2009 - Rilski Sportist, won the final. Now Todorov will rely on a new roster with 10 new players and will aim for good results.
Undoubtedly the leader of Balkan will be Ivan Lilov. He already won the competition with Rilski Sportist and has reached the Final 4 with Feni Industries. Lilov will team up with Stanimir Marinov and the captain Pavel Marinov as those three wing players will be expected to lead the team in the tough battles on the courts.
Martin Marinov and Slovakian Peter Sedmak are the "oldest" players in a young team. They both are 27-years old but despite the fact that Balkan has young players, they are experienced and will try to contribute well. The Americans Noah Dahlman, Wes Eikmeier and Gabe Knutson will also be an important part of the team that will try to please its fans.
One thing to be mentioned is that there is a new gym that will be finished very soon in Botevgrad. Balkan will play there and will try to use this as an advantage and try to reach the top positions in the competition.
Balkan opens up EUROHOLD Balkan League on October 15th with a visit to Teodo.News
