SCM U Craiova defeated Levski at home after a thrilling end to the game

SCM U Craiova had a nice debut in EUROHOLD Balkan League. The team hosted BC Levski and won 73-71 after a thrilling end to the match. The home team led from start to finish and at times by 16 points, but in the last minutes the visitors mounted a comeback. It almost succeeded but Rade Dzambic scored at the end to please the home fans with the victory. In the next round Craiova will visit KK Kumanovo 2009 while Levski will host KK Kozuv.
 
Craiova had a very good start and scored the first 7 points of the game. In the next minutes the team continued to have the lead but Levski was close. The last 4 points in the first quarter were for the hosts as the advantage went up to 8 and at the start of the second it became 10. Levski responded with 5 quick points but Craiova once again took a double digit lead. It went up even to 13 points but just before the half a triple by Djordje Micic cut it down ot 8, 41-33, after 20 minutes.
 
In the third quarter the hosts controlled the match and gave the visitors no chance to come close. The team of Craiova was up by double digits almost all the time and at one point the difference became 16 points after a fast break by Le Var Seals. The hosts contonied to have a big lead but probably decided that they won the game too early. Levski made a 13-0 run in the last quarter and managed to tie the game with 46 seconds left. Then both teams exchanged free throws before with 6.6 seconds to go Rade Dzambic scored to put the hosts ahead. Then in the last offense Jumaine Jones missed a triple and the game was over.
 
Top scorer for the hosts was Rade Dzambic with 16 points and Bogdan Popescu had 14.
 
For the visitors Hristo Zahariev had 17 points and Lionel Chalmers scored 13.
