The Board of FIBA Europe approved unanimously the new projects of EUROHOLD Balkan League

The Board of FIBA Europe approved unanimously the two new projects of EUROHOLD Balkan League. The management of the competiton requested to create a Women and Junior Balkan League starting from season 2014/2015. At its last meeting on Saturday, 22nd March, the Board of FIBA Europe discussed this request and unanimously decided to allow EUROHOLD Balkan League to run such competitions.   Here are the words of Sports Director - Mr. Shay Shtriks after the decision of FIBA Europe:   "I am very happy and thankful to FIBA and FIBA Europe about getting the official confirmation regarding our request for the two new projects. This is a recognition that EUROHOLD Balkan League are professional and correct basketball organization and our way in the last six seasons was right. On the other hand though this is a big responsibility and we will have to show that we can provide to the basketball in the Balkans the same quality leagues as the Men one.   I am sure that by creating the first U18 international club competition in Europe, especially in the Balkan region, we′ll give great possibility to the biggest young basketball talent. It is not going to be or replace any U18  national competition, it is a club competition in which only clubs that are officially registered in the local federation can participate. I imagine a game between the U18 champions of Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia against the Champions of Turkey, Serbia or Montenegro. It is going to be a great competition and a great challenge to all of us. Priority will be given to the U18 clubs which senior teams are playing in the Men EUROHOLD Balkan League.   Regarding the Women league if the clubs that would like to play will fulfil the obligations of the league, we will see a strong league. Teams from the Balkan region will be invited to play in the league. The idea is to create more  international games and more possibility for the Women basketball and in this way to support the national teams of each country.   The main issue is to have all of this games in the TV and to provide to the basketball fans more attractive contests. During the Board meeting of EUROHOLD Balkan League on 26.04.2014 (during the Final Four 25-27.04.2014) we will provide all the information to the federations and we will be ready for big basketball season which will include Men (BIBL), Women (WBIBL) and Junior (JBIBL) starting from season 2014/2015."
