Petar Georgiev, president of BC Rilski Sportist: Our participation in BIBL brings us satisfaction

Mr. Petar Georgiev is the president of BC Rilski Sportist and the person responsible for the team′s success over the last years. He is reason why Samokov is developing basketball and he was happy to see his team play in the EUROHOLD Balkan League final. Here is what Mr. Georgiev said before the start of the second final against Sigal Prishtina regarding the team′s performance and BIBL in general:

"Of course I′m happy with what we did. We are in BIBL since its start and the fact that we are playing third final speaks for itself that we are doing something for the basketball in the country.

Actually I didn′t believe we could reach the final. After our last year participation in other European competition, I thought that this season we wouldn′t be able to reach that far. However you all see that we went this far.

To me the creation of the Balkan League is a positive thing. It′s a great thing because we measured our strength with all countries around us, and teams from Israel as well, and this is a place where we can see the level of the basketball in Bulgaria, not to speak about the one in Samokov.

Surely our participation doesn′t give us any financial benefits but that′s not the point. It brings us satisfaction that we are making something about the basketball and this for me means a lot. For a small city like Samokov to play three finals is something big and speaks for itself."
