The perfect debut for Bashkimi

KB Bashkimi had a perfect debut in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. Playing in front of their own fans in Prizren, the hosts defeated KB Peja 82-73 and started in the best possible way the season in group B. Both teams played an interesting match and had their good moments but the hosts clicked at the right time for the delight of their fans. At the match were present Mr. Avni Ponari - CEO of SIGAL UNIQA and president of Albanian basketball federation, Mr. Shay Shtriks - Sports Director of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League, Mr. Ramadan Muja - Mayor of Prizren and Mr. Mahir Yagcilar - Minister of Public Administration
in Kosovo.
 
It was an even start to the game as both teams were scoring and exchanging baskets. Noone though could take a big lead as both teams were in front and it was only natural that the first quarter ended with the score tied. Peja was up for most of the time in the second as they even built an advantage of 6 points. Bashkimi though fought back and finished the first half on a 10-2 run to enter the locker room with 5-point lead.
 
The second half started with 8-1 run for the visitors and they once again took the lead. After a timeout though Bashkimi once again changed momentum and both teams exchanged points. Peja however managed to pull away by 6 points but the hosts finished the third quarter on a 10-0 run to enter the last one up by 4.
 
Shortly after it started the hosts advantage jumped to 9 points. In the next minutes Bashkimi continued to play well and they managed to keep their good lead. Peja did cut its deficit to 4 points but then the visitors went scoreless for more than four minutes and the hosts advantage went to 10 points. It was with 2.40 to play and it was more than enough for Bashkimi who celebrated the win at the end with their fans.
 
The two Americans - Theron Bussey and Tay Waller were the top performers for the winning team. Bussey was very close to a triple-double as he finished with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists as Waller had 19 points as well. Granit Rugova also had a very good outing scoring 17 points off the bench.
 
For the visiting team Ronald Davis finished with 24 points as Drilon Hajrizi added 18. The bench though didn′t contribute as the players that came on court didn′t score a single point.
