Peja holds off Lovcen to go first in group B

KB Peja recorded its third straight win in group B of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League which put the team in first position. They visited KK Lovcen Basket in Cetinje and won 82-65 after holding off the home side′s rally in the second half. Peja led from the first minutes but the hosts cut the gap and made the match interesting. The guests however managed to hold on to their lead and won. With this victory they now have 3-1 record and are top of the group while Lovcen is last with no win and 4 defeats which means that almost certainly the team is headed for the Qualification tournament for the Second Stage. Next week Peja will host Bashkimi while on December 3th Lovcen will welcome Levski 2014.
 
It was an even game until 2.40 to play in the first quarter when Peja made a 9-2 run to open up a 9-point lead. They carried on their good minutes in to the second quarter as the lead reached double figures. The good defense by the visitors wasn′t allowing the home side to come closer and with 4 points to finish the half, Peja opened a 20-point advantage.
 
A 7-0 run in the third quarter put the visitors up by 24 points. That however probably changed something in the players of Lovcen as they responded with 12 straight points to close the gap to 12. At the end of the quarter it was 11 but a 5-0 run in the fourth cut it to only 5. Veseli however responded with an important triple and then the run continued with another 5 points to make the difference 13 and it decided the outcome.
 
Alban Veseli was the top scorer for the visitors with 23 points as Fisnik Rugova had 13. Peja grabbed 23 offensive rebounds which led to 19 second chance points compared to only 6 for the home team.
 
For Lovcen Aleksandar Milic had a good game with 24 points as Nikola Borilovic scored 8.
