Mornar still unbeaten after heartbreaking win in Stara Zagora

KK Mornar continued their unbeaten run this season after a heartbreaking win in Stara Zagora. The team from Bar visited BC Beroe and took a more than dramatic 95-93 victory after overtime. This game had everything as both sides fought very hard for 40 minutes. The visitors led for most of the time and were very close to win in the regular time as well but missed their chance. However they took it in the extra period and recorded their fifth straight win in group A of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. Beroe on the other side are last in the standings with no wins and four defeats and next week have a very important match at home against KK Kozuv. Mornar will host Sigal Prishtina on January 13th in their last game of this group.   It was an even start but still the visitors had a small advantage. After Beroe took a 2-point lead Mornar made an 8-0 run to go up by 6. Still the hosts responded with 5-0 to finish the quarter down by 1. They started the second by scoring and going up by 1 but Mornar answered with 8-0 run. The next 7 points however were for Beroe and the score was tied as after that the teams started exchanging baskets. Near the end of the first half the hosts took a 3-point advantage but Damjanovic scored at the buzzer and the teams went in to the break tied at 45.   The teams stayed close in the third quarter with the visitors leading but not by much. A run of 5 straight points for them gave them an advantage of 8 and after 30 minutes they were up by 7.    Beroe had a great start to the last quarter and after 11-3 in less than three minutes the hosts took the lead by 1. Mornar responded with 8-0 to take an advantage and had it for some time. However with 1.41 to go Zhelev scored a triple to cut the deficit to 1 and after the visitors missed he missed. After that Radunovic put the hosts up by 3 and in the next minute both teams were missing. With 4.7 seconds to play Beroe once again cut the deficit to 1 and then the hosts fouled Perovic. He scored only the first free throw and the ball went to Moore who scored at the buzzer. The referees decided it was a good basket and the game went to overtime.   In the extra period the hosts managed to pull away by 4 points but Mornar quickly turned the things around and with 5 straight points. Then for more than a minute both teams went scoreless and with 12 seconds to go the visitors increased the lead to 2. In the last offense Vujosevic made a block and gave the win to Mornar.   Marko Mijovic was the top scorer for the winners with 17 points while dishing out also 7 assists. Balsa Radunovic had 16 points and 8 rebounds while Emir Hadzibegovic also scored 16 points with good minutes off the bench.   Aleksandar Todorovic had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the home team as Evrik Gary added 14 and 7.
