Stellar performance by PAYBAL EKA AEL in European return

PAYBAL EKA AEL had a blast in its first European game after more than a decade.

The Cypriot team led the whole game in front of an enthusiastic home crowd to win 93-42 versus KK Plevlja from Montenegro.

A stellar performance in offense and a tough one in defense after the break were the key to success.

AEL scored 25 points in each quarter in the first half, to lead 50-24 at the break.

In the second half not much changed and AEL continued flying for the full Limassol arena.

The game will go in the books of Euro basketball as the first European club competition, where a female head coach led one of the teams - Cyprus legend Kalia Papadopoulou.

AEL dominated the boards and had twice as many triples as KK Plevlja and three times more assists than the opponent.

The two newcomers in Delasport Balkan League played a respectable game to continue the 16th season.

The latest AEL addition Tyrn Flowers scored 20 for the win, with 11 rebounds, Jordan Sheperd added 15. Marko Veskovic had 10 for KK Plevlja.
