In the second domestic encounter this season of the two Romanian BIBL participants once again CSU Cuadripol Brasov prevailed over hosts Dinamo Bucharest - 73-85. In the first BIBL derby of the Romanian Division A back on the 1st of November in Brasov CSU Cuadripol only nicked the victory by a single point (92-91), but now, although on the road, they were much more convincing versus the same opponent. The game was closer in the opening minutes, with the visitors from Brasov holding just a 1-point advantage after the first quarter - 20-21. But then they stepped up and took control of the game, leading 34-39 at half-time. They made their lead more comfortable in the third 10-minute frame and were in front by 11 points after that one - 47-58. Then in the closing munites CSU Cuadripol loosened up their defence a bit and allowed Dinamo to score more. But the Brasov team kept on scoring big too and had no problem closing out the game with a 12-point margin.
The American guards were the most productive scorers for both teams in the game. For the winning side LeRoy Dawson netted 18 points on a 7-10 shooting from the floor (4/6 three-pointers), while Rashaun Broadus added 12 points and 4 assists. Big center Ionut Dragusin had yet another double double - 10 points and 10 boards. Chris Reaves led the scorers for Dinamo, equalling Dawson`s game high of 18, and he also grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 4 assists; fellow American player, power forward Demetrius Williams had 10 rebounds, but only managed to score 5 points.
CSU Cuadripol Brasov are temporarily up to 3rd in the Romanian Division A standings at 13-5, having played one game more than CSU Atlassib Sibiu. The loss was the 11th one for Dinamo in their domestic league and it keeps them down in 12th place with 6 wins, just ahead of BC Targoviste, who have 5.
Dinamo have just one more game to play in Group B of the Eurohold Balkan League this season - next week in Bucharest versus Bulgarian team Levski - but it`s only academic, as the Romanian team is already out of the reckoning for a place in next round. In Group A CSU Cuadripol still have a chance, but they need to defeat Euroins Cherno More in a head-to-head battle for the quarterfinal slot on Wednesday at home in Brasov.
