Gaz Metan stay perfect

The leader in Group A Gaz Metan smashed last season Balkan League champion Rilski Sportist in Medias. Except the first minutes of the meeting Romanians led throughout and won in the end 86-68. It was the fourth home game for Gaz Metan from 5 possible. The guests from Samokov started better and took an early lead with 4-0, and after some successful shots by Travis Peterson, Rilski Sportist was ahead 13-6. In the end of the period, Gaz Metan made a 9-2 record and for the first time take the lead. After 10 minutes on the court the result was 18-15. Rilski started stronger again and equaled the result but two consecutive three pointers from the Romanian side made the score 31-24. Two minutes later for the first time in the match the result became a double-digit difference. Gaz Metan played a very inspired second quarter and led after the first half with 42-33. After the break, Bogdan Boev scored 7 consecutive points and Rilski Sportist trailed only by 3 - 44-41, but then they allowed Gaz Metan to pull back significantly. Romanian side made a 12-2 series and the end of the third period came to 58-47 for Gaz Metan. Rilski Sportist started the last quarter with and idea to try to reduce the backlog, but the hosts just do not let him. After five minutes on the field they were already leading by 16 points - 68-52. Unfortunately by the end of the match the difference growed up and the team from Medias stayed unbeaten, while Rilski Sportist recorded their third loss. The most efficient player in the game was the young Romanian prospect Titus Nicoara, who made an incredible double-double - 15
points and 20 rebounds. Tudor Dimitrescu scored 16 points, while Ivan Zigezanovic finished with 15 points and 7 boards for Gaz Metan. Bogdan Boev was the best scorer with 17 points, while Travis Peterson ended with double-double - 11 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort.
However, in the today`s game, CS Gaz Metan used 5 non-european players during the meeting which is not according with the official regulations of EUROHOLD BIBL for 2009/2010 season. The rules permit the using of 3 non-european players.
