Levski defeated SCM U Craiova with a strong last quarter

BC Levski recorded a very important win in EUROHOLD Balkan League. The team hosted SCM U Craiova and took an 84-73 victory after a very strong last quarter. Levski was down after each of the first three quarters but played very good in the last ten minutes and won. This puts Levski on a 6-3 record and keeps the team in the battle for the top two position while Craiova is now at 4-6 and will continue to try to get in to Top 6. Next week Levski will visit KK Kozuv in Gevgelija while SCM U Craiova′s next match is on February 4th away at KK Teodo.

The visitors started the game great and quickly took a 10-2 lead. With a basket to start the second quarter Craiova′s lead went up to 13 points but Levski answered with 9 straight to cut its deficit. A triple by Lionel Chalmers closed the gap to 1 and then both teams exchanged three points. However Craiova finished the half on an 8-1 run to take an 8-point advantage in to the break.

The second half started on a a 7-0 run for Levski but the visitors answered with 6 straight points. However the home team once again scored 7 in a row and they managed to tie the score at 48. Still Craiova once again took a good lead after making a 5-0 run as after 30 minutes they were up by 3 points. The last quarter started with a 9-3 run for Levski and then with 4.18 to play in the game, Chalmers scored a triple to put the hosts up by 6 points. A minute later Varbanov′s dunk and a free throw increased the lead to 9 and after that there was no comeback for the visitors.

Nikolay Varbanov was the top performer for Levski with his 26 points and 6 rebounds while Lionel Chalmers scored 20 points after a very good last quarter.

For the visitors LeVar Seals finished with 15 points as Stenn Sokk added 13 and 7 assists.
