Peja holds on for the win in Bar and is through to the semifinal

KB Peja is the second semifinalist in EUROHOLD Balkan League. The team visited KK Mornar in Bar and won 72-65 after holding on at the end to that important victory. With this result Peja won group C with 4 wins and 2 losses and took the first place because of the two victories the team had against Kumanovo. This means that Peja is going to the semifinal while Kumanovo and SCM U Craiova will play in the quarterfinals.

Until the middle of the first quarter the teams were exchanging baskets and the game was even. In the next almost four minutes though Peja made a great 18-4 run and went up by 14 points. The visitors kept their double digit lead until the middle of the second quarter when Mornar cut the deficit to 8 points. Shortly after that Peja scored 7 in a row to go up by 15 points and just before the break the hosts managed to close the gap to 11.

The second half started on an 8-1 run for Peja which increased even more the lead. The visitors were holding on to their big advantage until the end of the third quarter as it finished with them leading by 17 points as it reached also 21. Mornar however didn′t give up and started the last quarter in amazing way. The home side scored 16 points in a row and in only four minutes they were right back in the game and were losing by just a point. In that key moment Jozo Brkic stepped up for the visitors and first made 2 free throws from 4 attempts and then added a basket to put his team up by 5. Then both teams exchanged two points and when Dominique Wise scored the difference went up to 7 with less than two minutes to go. That proved to be the last decisive moment as after that Peja held on for the important victory.

Jozo Brkic was the top scorer for the winners with 19 points as he also added 9 rebounds. Alban Veseli had 14 points as Jaleel Nelson had 10.

For the home team Ivan Jelenic finished with 18 points and 5 assists as Miroslav Damjanovic added 11 points and 5 rebounds.
