Sigal Prishtina handed Mornar first loss of the season
KB Sigal Prishtina started very good the new 2016. The BIBL champions defeated KK Mornar 86-75 away and handed the team from Bar their first loss of the season. It was also a winning debut for the new head coach of Sigal Antonis Constantinides. This result however won′t change anything in the standings for Mornar as the team secured the first place. For Sigal Prishtina though it means that the team will finish second and the game against Beroe next week will not be important. The team from Stara Zagora will have to play in the Qualification Round for Top 8 regardless of the result in Prishtina.
Sigal started better and took a 7-2 lead. The visitors managed to held on to it for the entire first quarter when they had a 6-point advantage. It went up to 9 at the start of the second but then Mornar responded with 12-0 to take its first lead. It went as high as 6 points but in the last two minutes of the half Sigal Prishtina scored 7 in a row to up by 1 after 20 minutes.
A 7-0 run for the visitors broke a tied score in the first quarter and after they held on to their lead. They even made it 10 points and after 30 minutes it was 9 and the team from Prishtina was in a very good position. A 9-3 start to the last quarter gave the visitors a 15-point advantage but Mornar responded with 7-0. Still Sigal kept their cool and led until the end to take the victory.
Jason Washburn had a great game for the winners and finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Dardan Berisha and Mohamed Abukar also played well as both scored 24 points. For the home side Radoje Vujosevic had 21 points and 6 rebounds while Balsa Radunovic scored 13 points.
