Great defense leads Teodo to three in a row
KK Teodo recorded third straight win in group C of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The team from Tivat hosted KK Mornar in the Montenegrin derby and won 56-47 after a great defense. Both teams played hard and fought for the win which reflected on the scoreboard. However Teodo did a little bit better in offense, controlled the game in the decisive moments and deserved the win. It gives them a perfect record of 3 wins and no defeats in the group while Mornar is now with 1-2. Teodo′s next game will be on March 2nd at home against Bashkimi while Mornar will visit Beroe a day earlier.
Both teams relied on its defense in the first quarter and weren′t scoring a lot at the start of the game. They did better at the end of the period but still totalled 27 points with Teodo leading by 1. In the second quarter things didn′t chance as both teams were playing hard defense and no one could pull away. Still Teodo led by 3 at the break but the game was wide open.
The hosts scored the first 5 points of the second half which put them up by 8, the biggest margin in the game until that moment. Mornar again closed it to 3 and after some minutes without scoring, Teodo made a 6-0 run to lead by 9 and after 30 minutes it was 7.
With three minutes played in the fourth quarter the hosts advantage reached double digits for first time. They kept it and with 3.36 to go the lead reached 11 points and the game was practically over.
Manuel Johnson was the only one to score in double digits for the winners as he finished with 11 points while also adding 10 rebounds. Radomr Marojevic added 9 points as Milos Djurisic and Masan Vrbica scored 7 apiece.
Balsa Radunovic had a double-double for the visitors with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Lamont Jones also scored 12 points but was 6 of 16 from the field.
Both teams had the same shooting percentage 31% finishing with 19 made shots from 61 attempts, with Teodo having one triple more (3 to 2). The hosts though attacked the basket more and were 15 of 24 from the free throw line compared to 7 of 9 for Mornar. The visitors also made 17 turnovers compared to only 9 for The Yellows from Tivat.
