Huge third quarter takes Mornar in the Top 4

Huge game for Lamont Jones

KK Mornar finished first in group C of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The team from Bar downed KK Teodo 93-67 at home in a direct game for the semifinal spot in the competition. Huge third quarter made the difference in the game as the hosts scored 40 points in just ten minutes which gave them a big lead. It was more than enough for them as Mornar closed out the game easily. The team from Bar and Beroe qualified for the semifinals from that group and will wait for tomorrow evening to know their opponents for the semifinal.

Both teams started the game difficult as the pressure could be felt in both sides players. They didn′t score a lot of points as they exchanged leads until two minutes left in the first half. However it finished with 7-2 run for Mornar as after a Lamont Jones triple the hosts led by 6 after two quarters.

The hosts scored the first two points of the second half but then Teodo responded with four straight. Then though Mornar added two triples to go up by 11 and then controlled the difference. Later a 13-2 run by the hosts gave them a 23-points difference as that run was stopped by Subotic basket. Lamont Jones however was on a roll in those minutes and made two straight triples to definitely kill all Teodo′s hopes. After 30 minutes Mornar led by 27 and the last ten remained just a formality.

The hosts made 14 out of 34 three-pointers while the visitors were only 3 of 23. That was a very big difference which reflected on the scoreboard.

Lamont Jones was the hero for the hosts as he hit 6 triples from 10 attempts to finish with 35 points. The point guard added also 5 assists while Marko Mijovic scored 12 points off the bench.

Srdjan Subotic and Milos Djurisic had 14 points apiece for the visitors as Aaron Mitchell had 11.
