Feni gets important win on the road

MKK Feni Industries defeated BC Beroe, 68-66, on the road in Round 3 of the Second Stage of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League, and now needs to win against KK Kozuv on February 28th in order to advance to the semifinals. Despite the loss, the team from Stara Zagora has already secured its spot in the next phase of the competition, and will travel to Montenegro to face KK Sutjeska only for its pride.
Beroe started on a high flying note and used a 10-0 run to break open a double digit lead early in the first quarter but Feni cut the deficit to 9-10. The Macedonian side then took control and went ahead by 25-15 throughout the second frame, but the hosts got within 25-29 at half time.
Midway through the third period Beroe tied it at 36-36, following a layup by Brandis Raley Ross for a 38-36. The roster of the Bulgarian national team coach Lubomir Minchev took a 49-45 lead into the final 10 minutes but the guests punched back once again.
With the game knotted at 66:66 nothing was decided yet. It all came down to the last 38 seconds, when Feni managed to pull away with two free throws by Boban Stajikj and never looked back.
Matija Ceshkovic paced the winners with 12 points, while Jane Petrovski and Branislav Djekic added 11 points each.
Shane Gibson answered with 21 points in losing effort, while Stjepan Tesija followed with 10 points and eight rebounds.
