17-point advantage for Peja after Game 1 of the BIBL quarterfinal
KB Peja used a home court advantage and a strong second half
to gain a 17-point lead after Game 1 of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League quarterfinal
against KK Kozuv, 83-66. Second game will be on 15th March in
Gevgelija.
Peja used a 10-0 run to break open an early double digit
lead in the first quarter of the match. Kozuv though managed to stay close throughout
the second frame, while the home side′s head coach Aleksandar Todorov was
disqualified after arguing with the referees about an unsportsmanlike foul of Robert
Abramovic with more than seven minutes to go before half time.
Although Todorov left the court on a 30-23 margin in favor of his team, and Kozuv cut it to three points, Peja managed to pull away again for 36-28 at the half time. After the break the Macedonian side just could not find an answer, while Peja boosted its lead to double digits again and never looked back.
Robert Abramovic led the winners with 20 points. Cameron Rundles added 19 points, Alban Veseli had 17 points, while Noah Dahlman collected 12 points and four rebounds.
Kenyon McNeal Jr. answered with 27 points and five assists for Kozuv, Milivoje Mijovic was two rebounds shy of a double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing eight boards. Larry Hall Jr. added 11 points.
