Blokotehna didn′t give chance to Tirana for an impressive debut
KK Blokotehna couldn′t have wished for a better debut in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The Gevgelija team played a great game to defeat SK Tirana at home 100-68 and start well. The Macedonian side led from the first period and never left any doubt for the final outcome. The team played good defense, which gave a lot of chances in offense for the impressive win. Next week Blokotehna will host KB Bashkimi while Tirana will travel to Plovdiv to play Akademik Bultex 99.
Both teams exchanged baskets early before a 6-0 run put Blokotehna up by 7. Then the advantage reached 10 points and in the second period was increased. Some good defense led to a lot of fast break points for the hosts and they went up by double digits again. A 12-2 run gave them a 20-point advantage with a minute to play in the half as it finished 18 after Hysenagolli scored.
A great start to the second half decided the final outcome really early. The hosts went on to an 11-2 run to go up by 27 after which there was no more intrigue. The advantage even reached 39 points near the end of the third period which made the Blokotehna players to become more relaxed and Tirana started the last quarter on a 10-0 run. That cut some of the deficit but it was too little too late as the hosts held on.
Dwayne Benjamin had a very good game for the winners with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Goran Glavchev added 21 points as Marjan Mladenovikj had 15 and 5 assists.
The only player who performed on a good level for Tirana was Endrit Hysenagolli. The center finished with 33 points and 7 rebounds as Gerti Shima added 11 points and 5 assists.
