Two key runs are enough for Ironi Rain Nahariya to get its first win
04-11-2021 | 19:54Ironi Rain Nahariya recorded its first win in Group B of Delasport Balkan League. It came after the team defeated KK TFT 102-63 thanks to good performance from the first quarter on. It was two key runs that helped Ironi - in the second and third quarter, as after those two moments, the visitors had no strength to close the deficit. The big difference came at the end when the home side felt better both phisically and mentally. It takes them to 1-1 record and on December 1st they will host Akademik. Meanwhile TFT is now at 1-2 record and will travel to Bulgaria next week to play Akademik and Beroe.
After an even first quarter in which the visitors led more often, at one moment by 5 points, it was in the second in which the hosts broke the game open. They did so by improving their overall performance and after starting it on a 12-0 run managed to build up a very good advantage. It went as high as 22 points with 02:11 to play in the half but TFT finally managed to find some rhythm and finished it on a 9-0 run to close the gap to 13 at the break.
The run continued early in the second half as TFT scored the first 5 points of it to cut the deficit to just 8. Shortly after the home side went to score 11 points in a row to once again increase its advantage. That turned out to be the decisive moment after which TFT lost its powers to fight. In the final ten minutes the hosts managed to keep up their pace while the same couldn't be said for the visitors and the difference reached almost 40 points.
Dolev Drapic was the top scorer for the winners with 21 points and going 7/7 from the field. Dustin Thomas had a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds as Clarke Rosenberg scored 18.
The visitors were led by Landrius Horton who finished with 14 points and 5 rebounds as Aleksandar Kostoski added 13 points and 4 assists.
