Nebojsa Vidic: I’m disappointed from what we showed on the court

BC Balkan lost the second semifinal of Delasport Balkan League to Maccabi Next Urban Haifa. Here is what head coach Nebojsa Vidic had to say following the match:

“100% the players are feeling what I’m feeling – that we could’ve beat that team. When you lose to a team that plays fast, shoots well it’s ok, but this is not the case and that’s bad. We had our opportunities. It also seemed as though there was fear in some players. I don’t understand the fear that I’m seeing.

In the first half we were surprised by how alone we were on the court. We didn’t score anything. The second half we started playing a bit more aggressive and we had a lot of options to find solution.

Christian Jones is very important to our team. He scored 15 points but didn’t have that presence on the court because he wasn’t feeling well and we can’t have influence on that.

We need to play with more thought and heart. Hapoel is without doubt the best team on the Final 4. We wanted to play the final and to show that we can qualify and then to play a game without pressure and to show good basketball. In this game we didn’t play our basketball. I can say that I’m disappointed from what we showed on the court. This is not the basketball which we are playing and it’s not even the basketball that can bring us a trophy in the last stage of Bulgarian league.

It’s hard to say how we’ll go out on the court on Sunday. It’s a hard question. We’ll see how we’ll motivate the players and we’ll try to play better against the hosts.”
