Beroe made a huge step towards the final
BC Beroe made a very big step towards securing a place in the final of SIGAL UNIQA Balkan League. The Greens defeated KK Teodo 78-69 away and will take a good advantage to the second game at home in Stara Zagora. It will be played next Tuesday, March 28th, and will decide the first team for the final.
Teodo had a great start to the game and took a quick 9-2 advantage. After that the hosts were keeping it and just before the first quarter finished it reached 10 points. Beroe however made a 7-0 run between the first and the second period to close the gap and soon the team took the lead. It happened thanks to Tihomir Zhelev who scored four triples in a row to put his team up by 5. Until the break Beroe managed to hold on and had a good advantage.
The visitors had a great start to the second half and after a 9-2 run went up by 13. Then The Greens kept their good lead as Aleksiev hit two important triples in moments when the the hosts were trying to come closer. In the final period the visitors controlled the score as the home side cut some of its deficit in the end.
Beroe had advantage in three-point shooting by making 11 of 23 attempts compared to 6 of 22 for the home team.
Brandis Raley-Ross was the top performer for the winners with 22 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Tihomir Zhelev and Plamen Aleksiev had 12 points apiece.
Milos Popovic finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the home team as Radomir Marojevic added 14 and 9.
