Trepca holds on to hand Sutjeska first defeat
KB Trepca recorded its second home win of the season. The team hosted KK Sutjeska in Mitrovica and after a hard fought battle took a dramatic 75-73 victory. The home side led from start to finish but in the final moments the visitors gave themselves a chance. The match was decided oin the final minute when Ljujic′s triple broke the tie and the hosts held on. It was Sutjeska′s first defeat of the season after three straight wins. Next week Trepca will host SK Tirana while the team from Niksic will play at home against Karpos Sokoli.
Trepca led from the first minutes but the visitors were close and the lead didn′t reach more than 4 points. After ten minutes it was only 2 and the match continued to be close in the second period as well. In the closing minutes of the first half the hosts made an 8-0 run to go up by 7 points and then led by 5 at the break.
In the first minutes of the second half the lead remained the same but then Trepca made a 6-0 run to make it to double digits. It didn′t go to more points as the visitors again cut the gap and it was 6 after 30 minutes. The advantage reached again 10 points but then with 9-0 run Sutjeska came back in the game. With a minute to go the game was tide and in the next offense Ljujic hit a triple to put the hosts ahead by 3. Then Sutjeska closed the gap to 1 but at the end the home side held on.
Frederic Stutz and Jeremy Wise were the top scorers for the winners with the first one grabbing also 14 rebounds. Montreal Scott also did well and finished with 15 points.
Jermayne Thomas was the top performer for the visitors with 22 points and 4 rebounds. Djoko Salic added 15 and 6 while Jayon James had 12 points.
