It′s time for season 10 of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. It will start tonight with two games which will see three new teams playing for the first time in the competition.
At 17.00 hrs local time in Rozaje one newcomer - KK Ibar, will host other one - BC Akademik Bultex 99. Both teams will play in the league for the first time and would like to impress at the start. The home team will count a lot on the experience of his coach - Mladen Ostojic, who has some good prospects in the roster. Ibar relies mainly on local players who will no doubt play hard and give their best on the court. In the same time Akademik is growing as a club each year and this season will be a big test. The Plovdiv team would like to have a positive start and will be looking to Umipig, Johnson and Durchev for it. There is a good mix between experience and youth in the roster and also a good 3-point shooters which head coach Nikolov will count on.
The second game of the day is in Gevgelija where the newcomer KK Blokotehna will take on SK Tirana. The ambitious new project in Gevgelija seems interesting and this will be the first big test. Blokotehna has some players with BIBL experience and a coach who has won the competition - Marjan Ilievski. He has both youth and experience in the squad and will try to lead the team to a victory in the debut. SK Tirana however comes with the ambition to perform very well not only in this match but in the whole season. The team now has more international experience and has some of the best local players on the roster. Add to that the presence of Brckov, Abdul-Bassit and Popovic and we can see that Tirana can do some damage this season. The Albanian side will try to do that already in the first game which without doubt should be an interesting one.
