Shay Shtriks: BIBL is always pushing to develop the basketball and the players from the region

The 11th season of the Balkan League will start today. As usual the Sports Director Mr. Shay Shtriks spoke before the first game of the competition and this is what he had to say:

"Today, 16.10.2018, the 11th season BIBL season will start with 7 very good and respectable teams: Albania – Teuta Basket Club, Durres; Bulgaria - BC Akademik Bultex 99, Plovdiv and BC Beroe, Stara Zagora; Kosovo – KB Bashkimi, Prizren and KB Z Mobile Prishtina, Prishtina; Macedonia -  KK Kozuv, Gevgelija and the last coming team from Kazakhstan - BC Barsy from Atyrau the Capital of Atyrou Region. All the teams have very good basketball history. All the teams have experienced managements and most importantly, each team has very good and devoted spectators.

The Balkan League has always been proud of the quality of the games, which is the most important, and we cannot make any compromise with this. Always we are pushing to develop the basketball and the young players from our region and to support different sport cultures as we did several years ago with teams from Israel playing in BIBL. 

I′m sure that we are going to have another quality season. Each team will have 12 guaranteed games during the 14 rounds of the league. Those who qualify to the Playoffs will have 14 games and the two finalists will have 16-17 games which provides everybody with very good and long competitive basketball season. 

This season we have two former Champions of the league - BC Beroe and KB Z Mobile Prishtina which is also competing in FIBA Europe Cup and because of this fact the final game-schedule of KB Z Mobile Prishtina will be published in the middle of November.

The league management is in negotiations with several potential sponsors where the target is the BIBL to be able to provide also money-prize for the teams that will qualify to the Playoffs and Final games.

Like every season in the past 10, we will continue to support young referees who will officiate with senior referees and I know that the games will be officiated in the most professional and fair way so that all the teams’ coaches, players and basketball fans will respect their job.  

All the games will be broadcast live in YouTube/ Sport Media and several teams already closed contracts with TV channels to broadcast the games LIVE on TV. Our web-site will continue to provide a professional information with updated information and live statistics.

I′m sure that the 11th season of BIBL will be the same and even more attractive than the 10th one. For sure our players, coaches and spectators will participate and witness very good and quality basketball games starting on 16.10.2018 until the final game on 16.04.2019. I wish everyone a very successful season 2018-2019 and may the best club win!"
