Akademik Bultex 99 dominates the second half for a first win
BC Akademik Bultex 99 recorded its first win of the season in the Balkan League. The Plovdiv side visited KB Bashkimi and won 105-65 after a domination in the second half. At the break the difference was just 5 points but as in the first two matches, Bashkimi once again didn′t have the power to compete in the second half and never had a chance. That was the team′s third straight defeat and next week at home against Kozuv they′ll try to get the first victory. Akademik on the other side will host Beroe next Tuesday and will try to make it two in a row.
The visitors had the better start and were leading early. In the last few minutes of the first quarter they dominated and as they finished it on a 14-2 run, their advantage reached 15 points. Bashkimi came out with a different mindset in the second quarter and that was seen on the court. For the first five and a half minutes they made an 18-5 run and that closed the gap to just 2. Three minutes later the hosts took the lead but Akademik quickly responded with 8 straight points. The last basket for the half was for Bashkimi and the difference was just 5 points.
An 11-2 start to the second haf once again increased the advantage to double digits. From that moment on the visitors dominated, the lead went up more and more and there was no problems for Akademik to get the win.
Daishon Knight and Mladen Vitkovic were the top scorers for the winners with 19 points apiece. Peter Olisemeka also did well making all of his 8 shot attempts and finishing with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The hosts was once again led by Jordan Capps who had 20 points and 16 rebounds. Gazzali Makasqi added 15 points as Michael Martin and Ujkan Karanezi had 9 points apiece.
