Hajrizi lifts Bashkimi for a dramatic win over Barsy

KB Bashkimi recorded its second win of the season in the Balkan League. In a dramatic game the Prizren side hosted BC Barsy Atyrau and took an 85-84 victory thanks to a Drilon Hajrizi baskets with few seconds left on the shot clock. The visitors led for 38 minutes, were a point up in the end but again fell short in the final and couldn′t get the victory. Now The Kazakh team will travel to Sofia to play Blokotehna on Friday for its last match of the season while Bashkimi will host the team from Gevgelija next week.

 

Bashkimi scored the first 9 points of the game but the hosts answered with the next 10. Then the teams exchanged baskets and it was Barsy which got the lead after ten minutes after finishing the quarter on a 5-0 run to go up by 4. In the second the visitors continued to have the lead and it even reached 10 points. They managed to be in that range for few minutes but a 7-0 run to end the first half, brought the home team back and cut the deficit to just 1.

 

Shortly after the break the score was tied but then Barsy responded really well. The Kazakh team scored the next 8 points to pull away and soon the difference reached 13 and later 14. The last 5 points of the third quarter were however scored by the hosts and that restored their chances.

 

Early in the fourth the Kazakhs again made the difference 14 points but 10-0 run for Bashkimi put them back in contention. At first the visitors managed to stay ahead but the hosts were in a good moment and not only closed the gap even further but a triple by Capps gave them a point lead with 1:45 to go. Both teams followed that with missed shots and finally McGill scored to put Barsy up by 1 with 9 seconds to play. The game however wasn′t over as there was enough time for Hajrizi to score and win the game for the hosts.

 

Jordan Capps was again the top scorer for the hosts with 35 points while adding also 9 rebounds. Drilon Hajrizi finished with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists as Steven Haney scored 12 points.

 

The visitors were led by Donte McGill who had another good game ad scored 32 points. Arkadiy Mkrtychyan and Christopher McEachin also did well by scoring 12 points apiece as the Russian added also 11 rebounds for a double-double.
