Five games to go in most interesting week of regular season of Eurohold BIBL
Five games in three days will decide the final standings in both groups of preliminary round of Eurohold Balkan League. Eight teams to play in quarterfinal playoffs are known but there is still lot of questions without answers. We know only the winner of Group A – Swisslion Takovo from Vrsac but all other seven spots will be divided among the other teams for quarterfinals.
All five of the games have their importance and there is no match with no meaning to the final standings in both groups. Three of the games will be on Tuesday, February 17. First Levski will visit Dinamo in Bucharest starting at 15.30 local time. In order to get third place in Group B Levski need to win against Dinamo and wait for eventual Mega Hypo Leasing loss in Skopje two days later. If Bulgarians lose at Bucharest they will end up at the fourth place and will face one of the favorites to win the whole tournament - Swisslions in the quarterfinals. Dinamo Bucharest will fight for their pride and hope to end up the first season in Eurohold Balkan League with respectful win over Levski.
Later on Fersped Rabotnicki and Rilski Sportist will battle in Skopje for the first spot in the same group. Macedonians need two victories to wins in the last two games to win the group. Couple days later they will play also against serbian participant Mega Hypo Leasing in the last game of the regular season competition. If they lose either game will finish second or third in the group at the end.
Rilski Sportist received wild card before the competition started and now they have a chance to win one of the groups. Team from Samokov secured at least second place but win Tuesday night in Gradski Park in Skopje will make them winner of Group B. Even if they lose the game against Fersped Rabotnicki hopes for first spot will be alive as they will rely on Mega Hypo Leasing later on.
No matter the results of two games from Group B Tuesday night, last game between Fersped Rabotnicki and Mega Hypo Leasing on February 19 will be very important for the final standing. We will not know how each team will end up until this game is over Thursday night in Skopje.
Radnicki 034 Group is the only team that beat Swisslions this year in Eurohold Balkan League. They will try to do it one more time when both teams meet each other Tuesday night in Kragujevac. The visitors from Vrsac already won the group A despite the outcome of the game against Radnicki. Lions are first and will face team number four from Group B in the quarterfinal playoffs.
Win for Radnicki 034 Group will not give them better place if day later Euroins Cherno More defeat Feni Industries. However they will fight for it and hope macedonians will surprise bulgarians Wednesday night in Varna.
If Radnicki 034 Group win against Lions, Feni will finish second in Group A no matter what they do versus Euroins Cherno More. If all three teams (Euroins Cherno More, Radnicki 034 Group and Feni Industries) get even, Macedonians will get the highest place as they swept the season series against Radnicki and will have more wins than the other two opponents.
Victory for Euroins Cherno More over Feni Industries Wednesday night will provide them with at least third place in the group A. However if Radnicki lose from Lions and Bulgarians defeat Feni by at least 14 points will move them up to second at the end of this round. Team from Varna didn’t have a game last weekend in Bulgaria because of the withdraw of CSKA from local league in that country.
