Swisslion Takovo avenged their only loss in the Eurohold BIBL

Swisslion Takovo revenged their only loss in the Eurohold Balkan League this season and finished on high note their regular season. Radnicki 034 Group was the only team that beat Lions but today, despite playing in Kragujevac in front of their own fans couldn’t manage to repeat the same. Team from Vrsac won by 16 points - 88-72 but still both squads will play in the postseason in this edition of Eurohold Balkan League. The opponent of Lions will be the fourth placed team in Group B (Levski or Mega Hypo Leasing). Radnicki 034 will finish third or fourth in the group and will face one of the next three opponents – Fersped Rabotnicki, Mega Hypo Leasing or Rilski Sportist. Everything depends on the outcome of the Euroins Cherno More-Feni Industries game tomorrow night.
Swsslions started the game better and held 5-7 early lead. Then the home team responded with 10 consecutive points and went up 15-7 after 6 minutes of play.
Davin White cut it to only single point (20-19) with 12 seconds to go in the opening quarter. In the last possession Igor Mijalovic managed to score and was fouled on the play to put the home team up 23-19 after 10 minutes of play.
Second quarter started with 9-0 run byt the visiting Lions as they moved up by 5 minutes in minute 13 (23-28). In only minute of time Radnicki 034 Group tied the score at 28 apiece but another series of 6 consecutive points by Swisslions put them up 28-34 in the middle of the second quarter.
2.18 minutes to go before the half time break the score was 37-39 but a lay up and three pointer shot by Radovan Markovic made it 37-44 – seven points lead by the vicitors from Vrcas.
The head coach of Radnicki 034 Group took a time out but the only basket scored until the half time was by Vladimir Popovic from Lions to get them the biggest lead at the break – 37-46.
With 1.34 to go in the third quarter Sasa Ocokoljic scored two free throws to put the visitors up by 14 points 51-65. Kljajevic and Duvnjak cut it to 9 but once again Popovic from Lions had the last basket in this quarter as well to bring back the double digit lead – 56-68.
Lions started the last quarter better and scored the first 5 points – one more time Popovic and Ocokoljic three pretty much decided the game in their favor – 56-73. Until the final whistle in this game Swisslion Takovo never didn’t lose concentration, they were focused and at the absolutely deserved the victory.
Vladimir Popovic scored 3 times behind the arc for total of 19 points. His teammate Sasa Ocokoljic also was successful 3 times from downtown as he ended with 13 points. In his second game for Swisslions Takovo in Balkan League American Davin White scored 10 points.
Rajko Kljajevic was the best scorer for Radnicki with 24 points while Danilo Draskovic finished with double double – 13 points and 10 rebounds. Stefan Arnaut came from the bench and also finished in double digits – 10 points.
Thursday night in Nis Swisslion Takovo will play versus FMP in the quarterfinals of Cup of Serbia named after legendary basketball player Radivoi Korac.
