One of the two Macedonian Eurohold Balkan League particpants - Fersped Rabotnicki Skopje - had a predictable victory in its domestic league weekend fixture and is now tied with the other BIBL team (Feni Industries) for the lead in the table. Prior to that 18th round of the Superleague regular season, top team Feni had a record of 14-2, while Rabotnicki were second at 13-2 with a game in hand. Feni didn`t have a fixture in Round 18, while Fersped Rabotnicki expectedly overcame the young team of Vardar 2000 Skopje, defeating them 93-63.

The more experienced and qualitative of those two teams from the Macedonian capital made the decisive moves for the victory just before and just after the half-time break. Rabotnicki won the second quarter 28-14 and the third 25-11. Thus they secured a comfortable lead of 29 points (72-43) after 30 minutes of play, after the Vardar team had been holding the fort reasonably well in the first quarter, trailing by just 1 point after that one (19-18). In the closing 10-minute frame it was all academic and the Fersped Rabotnicki players didn`t put a 100% in it, yet they managed to round it off to a 30-point winning margin.

Rabotnicki`s competent defence only allowed one Vardar player to get to double figures in points - 20-year old center Kiril Nikolovski with 19. He also got 12 boards though and thus - a double double. It was much more of an all-round team perfomance by the winnning team, who had 7 players with 9 points or more: Bojan Trajkovski (another 20-year old big man) led them all with 14, followed by Turkish NT member Bora Pacun (12 pts), Nikola Karakolev and Dime Tasovski (11 apiece), Aleksandar Dimitrovski (10) and Vladimir Filipovic and Danilo Mitrovic (9 apiece).

Now that they have tied for the top position in their local league, Fersped Rabotnicki next concentrate on the upcoming Balkan League quarterfinal encounter with Bulgarians Euroins Cherno More on Wednesday in Varna.
