Swisslions won regular season in Serbian league

Lions from Vrsac won the derby game in Round 23 of Serbia against Napredak Rubin and there is no more chances to get remove from the first place after regular season. The win of 96-87 was their 20th for this year in domestic competition as they have only 3 losses. Second placed Borac from Cacak is four wins behind with only 3 rounds left to play.

The game was decided in the first half as Lions grabbed the early lead and never trailed during all 40 minutes. They scored 50 points in the first half and held 15 points advantage at the break.

Team from Krusevac won the last two quarters of the game by one point each but that wasn’t enough to get the victory in Vrsac.

Dusan Knezevic was the best scorer for Lions with 22 points and he added 9 rebounds and 4 steals as well. Point guard Sasa Ocokoljic finished with 20 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. American Davin White played only 12 minutes but managed 11 points. Very good impressions got Aleksandar Jevdic without any miss from the 3-point line – 3 of 3.

For the visiting team their best player Dragan Markovic was almost unstoppable. He scored 32 points and added 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Team from Vrsac will be the only one from all Serbian squads in Eurohold Balkan League to reach Superlague in second stage to determine the champions in the country. All five Serbian teams from Adriatic League plus the first three from regular season in Serbia will form the Superlague.

Swisslion Takovo will visit Mega Hypo Leasing this coming Wednesday in the opening game of their quarterfinal series in Eurohold Balkan League.
