Wins for Mega and Radnicki but slim chances for Superleague
Other two Serbian teams, participating in Eurohold Balkan League – Mega Hypo Leasing and Radnicki 034 Group won their games during the weekend but have very slim chances to get into the Superleague. Radnicki 034 Group have a record 13-10 while Mega Hypo Leasing 12-11. Somehow they have to win all of the remaining games and depend of the results of Metalac and Napredak, teams with record of 14-9.
After even first quarter (21-20) against Zdravlje in Leskovac, Radnicki played much better in second and third ones to get enough points to win it. Both teams enter the last quarter of play with Radnicki holding 61-50 lead. Last 10 minutes were played in very high scoring style but with both teams scoring 28 apiece Radnicki was the team to celebrate at the end.
Igor Mijajlovic and Rajko Kljalevic managed 22 points each in the win for the visiting team from Kragujevac. Forward Peter Beader added 19 points and 7 boards while Ivan Milosevic and Danilo Draskovic scored 11 points apiece.
On the other side Milos Komatina played 39 points and captured 22 points.
The players of Mega Hypo Leasing were losing 28-43 after 20 minutes when they play versus Tamis Petrohemija on their court in Pancevo.The home team was even up by 19 points with 2 minutes to play in the first half. However everything changed in the second half when Dusan Katnic and Stefan Stojacic started to play like their know and at the start of last quarter the score was even – 58-58. In the last seconds of the game Mega Hypo Leasing were up a point, both teams exchanged free throws while Bojan Jovicic from Tamis missed a desperate 3-point shot to tie it at the end.
Katnic and Stojacic combined for total of 49 points. Katnic was the best scorer with 25 as he managed 4 shots behind the arc. Stojacic added 24 (2 treys) while big center Uros Nikolic finished with 17 points for the winners.
Bojan Stanojevic led six players in double figures for Tamis Petrohemija.
Mega Hypo Leasing will open up quarterfinal series in Eurohold Balkan League this coming Wednesday at home versus Swisslion Takovo in all Serbian encounter. Also Wednesday Radnicki 034 Group will go to Bulgarian Samokov to play versus Rilski Sportist in game 2 of their respective quarterfinal series. After loss in Kragujevac last week they will have to erase 10 point deficit in order to reach Final Four.
