Levski moved up at the first place in Bulgaria afer dramatic 88-84 win over other participant in Eurohold Balkan League Rilski Sportist. The win was 11th for the players of coach Konstantin Papazov, same as Lukoil Academic. However Levski has a point more with Lukoil Academic had a bye week. The success for Levski wasn’t that easy as the game came to the last minute for decision and the visitors from Samokov also deserved to leave the court with victory.

 

After this game Rilski Sportist is fourth but their players have match in hand over Euroins Cherno More. Both teams will meet each other in Round 19 of Bulgarian league but that will happen on march 21 after the Final eight of Cup of the country. The players of coach Aleksandar Todorov will not play next weekend as they were scheduled to meet CSKA, team that withdrew from the competition.

 

Stefan Georgiev continue to show his best form and once again was the best player for Levski. He dominated on both ends of the floor and finished with his fifth double double of the season in domestic league – 26 points and 10 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Arnas Kazlauskas added 21 points with 5 of 6 succesful shots nehind the arc. Marcus Hall scored 15 points and added 4 asssists but couldn’t manage any of his 5 attempts from the 3-point line. The other American in Levski Charles Jones ended with 7 points and 7 steals.

 

For the visitors Ivan Lilov managed 22 points (4 three pointers) while other guard in the team of Samokov Branko Mirkovic added 18 (3 treys). Mirkovic added 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Other Serbian in Rilski Sportist Dragoslav Papic also captured 3 three point shots and ended with 15 points but missed important layup in the closing minutes. Under his level was Travis Peterson, who left the game with only 8 points and 6 rebounds.

 
Both teams will play important second games from quarterfinal series in Eurohold Balkan league this Wednesday. Levski will travel to Kavadarci to visit Macedonian champions Feni Industries. They have 16 points cushion after game one. Rilski Sportist also have advantage for the rematch versus Radnicki 034 Group. They are 10 points up after 40 minutes of play but the second game is in Samokov and chances to reach place among the best four teams in Eurohold Balkan league for this season are quite good.
