Feni Industries ? Levski (Game 2 preview)
Levski travel to Kavadarci to protect 16 points lead for the second leg of Eurohold Balkan League Wednesday night. Bulgarians got 6 points in the last minute of the game thanks to old fashion three point play by Stefan Georgiev and 3-pointer by Arnas Kazlauskas to get 91-75 victory over Feni Industries last week. However there is there is still 40 minutes in which macedonian champions will do their best to get to the Final Four in opening season in BIBL.
Coach Emil Rajkovic was disappointed by the defense of his team in the first game. He said Feni Industries lost concentration in the final minutes in Sofia but he sounded optimistic regarding the second match in Kavadarci. He will rely on better defense of his team in game number two plus the support of their fans in order to have a shot to get to the next stage. His bench players will also need to reach another level as they managed only 3 points in the first game in Sofia versus 30 for the reserves of Levski.
Both teams won their domestic league games over the weekend. But the win for Feni Industries came easier as they beat 83-72 the last placed team on the table in Macedonia – Ovce Polje. Win was their 15th of the season and with that they are sharing first place in the league after 17 played rounds.
Center Zlatko Gocevski scored 16 points in 24 minutes while point guard Dimitar Mirakovski added 14 points in his debut for Macedonian champions. However Mirakovski is not eligible to play in Eurohold Balkan league as he came to the team after deadline for registration.
American power forward Donald Cole was limited to only 14 minutes as coach Emil Rajkovic wanted to rest him before the game versus Levski.
Stefan Georgiev is the go to guy in Levski right now. Bulgarian National Team player is showing his best in last two games and is the main reason Levski won them both. Last Wednesday Georgiev scored 28 points and with 10 rebounds registered his fourth double double of the season in Eurohold Balkan League. Then he dominated on both ends in domestic league against Rilski Sportist last Sunday – 26 points and 10 rebounds for 88-84 win that moved them at the first place in Bulgaria. That was 11th win for Levski in Bulgaria, enough to get a pole position in the league.
