Asen Hristov: The Final Four in Samokov will be at the highest level

The chairman of Eurohold and the main sponsor of Balkan League Asen Hristov:

“We`re extremely happy with the first year of the competition, the pubblicity is very good and we`ll continue to be the sponsor of the league. During the Final Four in Samokov we`ll have a work meeting with all the representatives from the different federations to discuss the future of the comptetition.

This is a unique event for Bulgaria and I want to thank the Samokov municipality for the support. I`m sure that everything will be on a european level. For sure this will be the biggest basketball event in Bulgaria this year. Except the partecipation of the national team in Eurobasket 2009 of course. All the teams, guests and officials will stay under excellent conditions during the competition.

I want to use this opportunity to thank all the federations of the countries who took part in the Balkan league. Without their support we wouldn`t have any success. We are hoping that strong teams will take part again next year as the idea is to include in some way the best teams from the respective countries.

I want to say the halls in Macedonia were always full and even at some games people were not allowed in. The interest in Serbia was good. I expected more from Bucurest but I`m pleasently surprised by Brasov. In Bulgaria I`m surprised from the people from Samokov and happy for the interest in Varna.

The requirements for hosting the Final Fourd were very high. From Mega Hypo Leasing responded that it would have been a difficult task for them to organize such an event, the two Macedonian teams also had desire but the best conditions were proposed by Samokov. Not only with the very good Arena Samokov with also with the number of beds and hotels available in the region. I think this is the moment to show that we can organize championships from high level so that in the future we can be trusted by the international federations. Surely this will raise the level of the Bulgarian basketball.”
