Five new teams will play in the next edition of Eurohold Balkan League – season 2009/2010. Vojvodina Novi Sad from Serbia, Sloboda Dita from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mornar Bar and Lovcen Cetinje from Montenegro and Timisoara from Romania will be part of the league. Team from Israel will be announced in second half of May when the season in this country is over.

Vojvodina Novi Sad played in Adriatic League this season and ended on 14th place with 4 wins from 18 games. In the Serbian Superleague couldn’t get enough wins to reach the playoffs. Finished third in Group A with biggest favorites Partizan and FMP Zeleznik. The biggest success for Vojvodina was fourth place in regular group stage of FIBA Eurocup back in 2006/07 but later lost to UNICS Kazan in the Eightfinals. Team is playing their games in beautiful Spens centar with capacity of 9000 seats.

Sloboda Dita is one of the best teams in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are fighting to get better place before the start of the playoffs in their country. Won the championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina back in 1997, 2000 and 2001. Winner of the Cup of the same country in 1997 and 2001. Home court is “Mejdan” hall with capacity of 7000 seats.

Mornar Bar is coming from Montenegro where they won the Cup back in 2004. In 2006 KK Primorka Bar merged with KK Mornar Bar. Same year they moved from Serbia and Montenegro League to newly created Montenegrin League. Mornar Bar played in the semifinal of the league and the cup in 2007.  Jugoslavija is the name of their hall with capacity of 1500 seats.

Lovcen Cetinje is also coming from Montenegro. They played in Korac Cup of FIBA Europe back in season 1998/1999. Reached the final of local league and the cup as well in 2007. Playing in Lovcen hall for 1500 spectators.

Timisoara is Romanian squad that reached the semifinal of the playoffs in their country. They are playing versus Otopeni in one of the semifinal series in order to get ticket to fight for the championship. Timisoara finished second after regular season and have very solid team. In the first round of the playoffs they eliminated Rovinari by 2-1 and found their place among the best four in Romania. Sala Sportilur Olympia is the home court with 3000 seats. Timisoara played in Korac cup back in 1994/95. The biggest success for this team was to play in the final of Romanian cup in 2007 and 2008.

Interest for participation in second edition of Eurohold Balkan League is very high so the Board of the competition might increase the numbers of the teams for season 2009/2010 to 14. Still the League will expect Basketball Federations from Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and FYR of Macedonia to make their selections and give the choices to the office of Eurohold Balkan League until the end of May.
