13-10-2009 | 12:01 | Alexander Sotirov
After Levski overcame Feni Industries Kavadarci 90:88 in the seasonopener on Saturday, there are still 4 games from the first round to be
played tomorrow, and one on October 21st.
Group A:
Rabotnicki - Rilski Sportist
Skopje, Gradski Park
Rabotnicki
continue to be a mystery, as they haven`t announced any complete roster
yet, but still, the Macedonian champions from last year are always
going to be a threat, having Marin Dokuzovski as head coach of the
team. On the other side, Rilski strengthened their squad with quite a
few quality players - starting from big man Georgi Davidov, going
through sharp shooter Simeon Naydenov, and finishing with playmaker
Aleksandar Ugrinoski. Also there are David Burgess at center, and
Srdjan Zivkovic at forward, so it`s going to be a interesting match-up,
between two Macedonian coaches - Marin Dokuzovski and Aleksandar
Todorov.
Euroins Cherno More - KK Metalac
Culture and Sports Palace, Varna
Cherno
More are going to play their first official game this season in the
Culture and Sports Palace, and probably they are hoping that there will
be a lot of support from their fans. On the other side, newcomers in
the Balkan League KK Metalac Valjevo are being pointed as one of the
strongest teams in the league by some specialists, and this game is
going to be a close one as well. Cherno More added two foreigners to
their team - Eric Webb and Pavels Veselovs, along with young Bulgarian
center Krum Doychinov, while Metalac have only Serbian players, along
with one "foreigner", who actuall is from Montenegro.
Group B:
Spartak Pleven - Mornar Bar
Balkanstroy, Pleven
Spartak
managed to keep almost all of their players from last year, as the only
one who left is Sasa Topchov. They signed with American enter Joseph
Kennerly, who still has to prove why Darin Velikov took him, as he
didn`t perform in the best way in some of the friendly games. The other
addition is Nikola Traykov, who is an incredible athlete, and should
fit in well. OKK Beograd area team with great history and also really young
, as their goal is by competing in the BIBL to start getting back the
team`s old glory. They also have only local players on their roster
which shows the quality of the work with the youngsters in Serbia.
CSU Steaua Turabo - KK Mornar Bar
Sala Mihai Viteazul
Steaua
are newcomers in the league. They have recently changed their coach, as
Predrag Vasic is no longer in charge, as he was changed with Teo
Cizmic, who already helped the team achieve it`s first win this season.
They have 3 Serbians, including well-known in the Balkan League
Dragoslav Papic, and also the American Ronald Timus. Mornar Bar are
another expansion team, who are participating for the first time this
year, but just the fact that they are from Montenegro, means that they
aren`t a weak team, but the expectations for them are to play better at
home, than on the road. They have three foreign players on their roster
- Americans Chad Barnes and Anthony Brown and Swedish Filip Samojlovic.
