Here is this week`s overview of the local championships, whose teams participate in the Eurohold Balkan League.Bulgaria:
Spartak Pleven - Chernomorec 94:91
Spartak
achieved their first win in the National League in Bulgaria, after they
lost away at Rilski Sportist in the first round. It wasn`t an easy game
for Darin Velikov`s side, as Chernomorec has a team with a lot of
potential, but after a great game from Iliya Stankov and Joseph
Kennerly, Spartak took the W. Kennerly scored the most points - 22,
along with 11 rebounds. Iliya Stankov added 21 points, shooting 5 from
9 from 3-point territory, and Hrisimir Dimitrov scored, while Rob
Preston added 13.
Euroins Cherno More - Levski 84:95
Levski
also recorded their first win in the NBL this year. They won away from
home in Varna, with a final score of 84:95. Aaron Harper showed that he
is going to be one of the best import players this year, scoring 29
points along with 5 rebounds. Donald Cole added 22 points, while Bobby
Frasor had just 2 in his debut. For Cherno More, Vasil Kyosev scored 18
points, and Aleksandar Yanev added 16. Eric Webb had a decent game with
11 points and 8 assists.
Lukoil Academic - Rilski Sportist 94:63
After
beating Spartak Pleven at home in the opening round, the first BIBL
champion Rilski Sportist crashed in Pravec, where the champions beat
them with 31 points of difference - 94:63. David Burgess was the team`s
top scorer with 14 points and 9 boards. Bogdan Boev and last season`s
MVP Travis Peterson both had 10, while Georgi Davidov added 13 off the
bench.
Macedonia:
Torus - Rabotnicki 76:65
Rabotnicki
suffered a surprising defeat against the team of Torus, as the final
score was 76:65. Enes Hadzibulic scored 20 points for Marin
Dokuzovski`s side, while Gjorgji Cekovski added 15 points, 13 rebounds
and 5 assists. Dimitar Mirakovski had 13 points, and Aleksandar
Dimitrovski - 10.
Feni Industries - Vardar 104:81
Feni
won their third game in the Macedonian championship, by thrashing
Vardar Skopje 104:81. James Life shined with 24 points, 6 rebounds and
4 assists, while Slobodan Mihajlovski added 17 points and 7 boards.
Vlado Popovic had 15, Vladimir Brchkov - 13, and Dusan Knezevic - 12.
Montenegro:
Lovcen - Teodo 80:62
Lovcen
achieved their first win in the domestic championship, beating Teodo
with 18 points difference. Nikola Ivanovic led the team with 21 points,
while Petar Stojanovic adde 13. Aleksa Popovic finished with 11, while
Marko Milosevic added 10.
Mornar - Jedinstvo 81:73
Mornar
also achieved their first domestic win this year, by winning against KK
Jedinstvo Bjelo Polje with 81:73. They are currently at 6th position,
right behind Lovcen, as both teams are with 1-1 balance.
Romania:
CS Gaz Metan - Oradea 97:63
Bruno
Soce`s side remain unbeaten after the 7th rounds in the Romanian
League. Deven Mitchell had 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals, while
Ivan Zigeranovic added 23 points and 7 rebounds for the win. Titus
Nicoara had 10 points and 10 boards, and Tudor Dumitrescu added 13 for
the win.
Mures - CSU Steaua Turabo 93:90
Steaua
continues to have ups and downs, as this time they suffered their
fourth loss in Romania. Now they occupy the 8th spot with a balance of
2-4. Ronald Timus had 26 points for Steaua. Dragoslav Papic was 2
assists short of a triple-double - 26 points, 12 rebounds and 8
assists, but that wasn`t enough for Steaua to win.
Serbia:
Ergonom - OKK Beograd 87:100
OKK
Beograd stayed with a perfect 3 and 0 record, and on top of the table,
after defeating Ergonom Nis away from home. Branko Andjic scored 26
points, and Dragan Kruscic added 25 for OKK. Nikola Korac and Dragan
Mitrovic were the other players in double digits - 19 and 13.
KK Metalac - Vojvodina 69:64
Metalac won their second game at home this season, by defeating Vojvodina. Dragomir Marojevic led his side with 18 points, while Milan Trtic had 14. They are now second in the table, right behind OKK Beograd.
