Top referees for the Bulgarian derby today

One of the top referees in the world, Lazaros Voreadis arrives in Samokov for the "Bulgarian" derby in the quarter-final stage of the EUROHOLD Balkan League. Today in Arena Samokov local Rilski Sportist is hosting another Bulgarian representative Levski in the first game of this stage of the tournament. Because of the important nature of the game, management of the Balkan League appointed three authoritative referees, headed by Lazaros Voreadis. The latter reaches 50 years in July and is known as one of the best referees in the world at present. He started his career 32 years ago and has international class from the last 18 seasons. Voreadis was long one of the leading referees of FIBA Europe, and for several seasons has been one of the most authoritative of the best basketball club competition in Europe - the Euroleague. Voreadis last meeting in Bulgaria was a victory of Bulgarian national team over Italy with 81-80 in Universiada Hall on August 31, 2008 in a qualifying game for Eurobasket 2009.The two other referees are also from Greece - Georgios Tanatsis, who officiated the semi-final of the Women EuroBasket in 2009 in Poland between Spain and Russia, and Yannis Fufis - referee with a pretty good career over the last seasons.
