Levski host the current EUROHOLD Balkan League champions - Rilski Sportist today in Universiada Hall in Sofia. This is the second game between these two teams in the BIBL quarterfinals, and last for this phase of the tournament. Three teams already secured their participation in the Final Four - Euroins Cherno More, Lovcen Cetinje and Feni Industries.Rilski are heading into tonight`s game in a better position, as they won the game in Samokov last week by 14 points of difference - 89:75, after a terrific performance from one of the team`s leaders - Travis Peterson, who scored 30 points.
Aleksandar Todorov can be happy, because one of this year`s signings who was performing far from the expectations - Simeon Naydenov, looks like he`s finally finding his rhythm, as he exploded last week with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Also, Titi Papazov should beware of Rob Preston. The American, who arrived from Spartak in the mid season break, fitted in successfully as the team`s sixth man and is a threat for any team. Also, we shouldn`t forget the team captain Aleksandar Gruev, who organizes the team`s offense more than good (he is the league leader in assists with 7.2).
On the other side, Levski have their main weapon - Aaron Harper back. The team`s best scorer didn`t play in the first quarterfinal, and we really saw that Levski struggle to score the basketball in Harper`s absence. Donald Cole comes into tonight`s contest as the best scorer in the history of the BIBL, and also those two, combined with Bobby Frasor and Stefan Georgiev look pretty serious on both ends of the floor.
The winner from tonight`s game will face Euroins Cherno More in the semifinals of the Final Four, as according to the EUROHOLD Balkan League regulations, if two teams from the same country qualify for the Final 4, they should play each other in the semifinal.
The game tips off at 18.00 in Universiada Hall in Sofia, and is going to be broadcasted live on the Bulgarian TV Kanal 3. Also the game can be watched at http://live.sportmedia.tv/.
Zoran Sutulovic from Montenegro, Aleksandar Glisic from Serbia and Gili Cohen from Israel are going to officiate the closing game of the BIBL quarterfinals.
